Image of October's Extra Mile Award Recipient

GOING THE EXTRA MILE! Each month of the 2,600+ employees of Wicomico County Public Schools we recognize three employees for going above and beyond their normal duties as Extra Mile Recipients. We choose one employee from the Academics Division, Business and Operations, and Student & Family Services. Congratulations to October's Extra Mile Recipients!

They are:

Amy Lloyd - English Teacher at Wicomico High School
In her second year at Wi-Hi, Ms. Lloyd is going above and beyond to assist the English department and the school. She has taken on a new pilot course: AP Seminar, which required a week-long summer training and regular meetings with the pilot teachers at other schools. She embraced this challenge with a smile and open arms.

While all that is well and good, the most impressive Extra Mile work was Ms. Lloyd organizing Wi-Hi’s FIRST ANNUAL Trunk or Treat, which was a huge success! The event was a great exhibition of our school staff’s willingness to show up for our community. It was truly heart-warming to see Wi-Hi students come out with their families and younger siblings, and participate in the event with big smiles pn their faces and simply feeling love from their school. This event would not have been possible without Ms. Lloyd’s willingness to take it on (all for free) in addition to all her other responsibilities. She is already planning for next year!

Roniell Trader - Special Education Instructional Assistant at Delmar Elementary

Mrs. Trader truly deserves this award because of her positive attitude and the incredible support she provides to Delmar Elementary every day. While her primary role is working one-on-one with a student, she consistently goes above and beyond, helping all students in the classroom and building strong, meaningful relationships not only with her assigned student but also with other students in 4th grade and across the entire school.

Her dedication extends beyond the school day. She actively participates in the Kindness Club after school, volunteers to assist with the upcoming Aladdin play, and even offers tutoring sessions to students who need extra support, helping them grow their skills and confidence. She has volunteered for numerous additional activities and has even spoken to groups of young athletes to help them set goals and demonstrate that they can achieve great things if they work hard and set ambitious goals.

Students light up when they see her in the hallway, and her positive attitude and warm smile remind me that school is a fun, welcoming place. By the way, this amazing lady is also a sports mom. One of her children, Dante Trader, is now playing with the Miami Dolphins. So next time you watch a Dolphins game, look for number 11, Dante Trader. That’s her son.

Monique Workeman - Systems Analyst in the Technology Department
About Mrs. Workeman, one academic division supervisor says, “I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to pause and make sure you all knew how amazing Monique has been over the last month, working closely with me to resolve the many user accounts and platform sync challenges we have had at the onset of this school year. Mrs. Workeman does it with ease, with positivity and kindness! She’s top shelf!!”

A different supervisor said, “Monique goes above and beyond to ensure all programs are running smoothly, and when they aren’t, she is willing to troubleshoot not only with me and my teachers, as well.  She is always open to helping and solving issues for me and my teachers, and does it with an amazing understanding and class.

If you happen to see either of these three outstanding employees, please tell them "Thank You" for all they do for our school system.
